strategy for weight loss is first off to make it a LIFESTYLE change, not just a diet!! Diets don't work for me, I know because I have done tons of them and yes I have lost weight in the past on all kinds of diets (Cabbage soup diet, Atkins Diet, Weight Watchers, counting calories, etc.) But once I lost the weight, I went back to old ways and weight crept back up!!!!! I am in no way belittling those that choose to follow any of the above diets, it may be what works for some folks, just not for me!
So far I have been just making better food choices---eating fruits and veggies for snacks, trying to incorporate a source of protein each time I eat, cutting out all the sugar/junk food I ALWAYS eat. I have also been eating much smaller portions, only eating when I am really hungry and stopping when I am satiated (NOT FULL!) I think this is one of the hardest thing I have done as I am an emotional eater! I eat no matter what emotion I am feeling.
For exercise, I have set a goal of starting out walking 2-3 miles daily and eventually work up to running an average of 15 miles per week. I used to run and LOVED it & really saw a difference in body (especially THIGHS!) when I was running several times a week. mom has been doing an exercise program called "Slim in 6" ( a beachbody program, I guess??) and really loves it. She is purchasing this dvd series for me as well and I plan to incorporate it into routine as soon as I receive it. plan is to do it at least 3 days per week. I am open to just about anything, so I may do weights (we have an extensive home gym set up in our lower level that hubby uses and keeps encouraging me to use as well!)
Well, I guess that's it for now. Thanks for all the encouragement on this website!
