i do lift from back a lot...and you'll notice on some of them i "lean back" at the top, this is a big no-no...the last deadlift vid (152 x 1) i lockout properly but arse raises a little bit before head does...this was first time i'd seen myself deadlift an i train by myself so i didn't even know i was doing it so it;s taking a while to iron it out...and i haven't been deadlifting much lately either

Ok I have a Deadlift question!
I was told to drop "arse" lower than what you've shown in the video. Thoughts?

you probably should but i'm more of a "back" lifter and the heavier the wt the more you'll shift to your strong points...i can do deficit deads at 100kgs plus so i still have good strength in glutes/ham area...

i also have some pretty ordianary hip mobility (well it feels like i do but it's probably not that bad), and tight flexors and core could be stronger too, all of which i just worked on (vids were about 10 weeks ago)

this dropping the arse thing, i hope your not "bouncing" down to that position then trying to lift up, that's just what it sounds like...you shopuld however "pull" yourself into a low position to start at but always start from a deadstop

Yes get your butt low but do as Swanso says and lift from a stop, not a bounce.

Swanso, being a back lifter, make sure you always keep your head up to help prevent yourself from arching your back.... we all know that can cause injury.

cheers

don't want cervical spine hyperextension vamp...you're not in neutral when your head's bent back mate...the head up thing is more for people to stick their chest out

i'd lifted heavy, heavy, heavy and increasing wt over and over for a yr or more and i found some tightness creeping in to the body so went on a rehab phase type of thing now doing some jump enhancement training which is a lot heavy squatting and mostly stif legged deadlifts but nothing from the floor...i've got a combine program (geared for NFL prospects) i wanna do after that too which is 12 weeks which will have some deads in there but m ight break up with a 4 week lean up thing (getting a little soft it seems)

Been deadlifting for a while now mate, I'm up to 2 & half plates per side for a good 10 reps but forearms are giving out after the first set, been using lifting straps which do help but still not progressing, would be greatful for any suggestions

too many reps per set

i wouldn't go over 6 for any given set and 3 - 4 is probably better...it'sa strength movement afterall, not a bodybuilding movemnt...the strength you gain from low rep deads give you more potential for your hypertrophy lifts in a way
